Perth-based electronic duo Feels has released their first track of 2023 titled "Crestfallen" and it is set to be released worldwide on March 15th, 2023. The track showcases the duo's ability to break through multiple electronic-genre boundaries to create captivating and intelligent dance music. Led by a stacked vocal and driving bassline, "Crestfallen" is equal parts futuristic, AI ballad and thumping club-inspired attention grab.
The track is taken from Feels' forthcoming EP, set to be released later this year, where they will continue to refine and explore the complex realm of electronic dance production. Feels has been recognized for their talent and success, having won the Best Electronic Live Act at the 2018 West Australian Music Awards, as well as back-to-back wins for Best Electronic Producer in 2018 and 2019. They were also finalists for the APRA AMCOS Professional Development Award and Women In Music Awards in both the music production and leadership categories.
Feels has performed headline shows nationally and internationally, including multiple performances at the Grampians Festival, Melbourne Fashion Festival 2020, and the prestigious Ableton Loop Summit in Berlin. In 2022, Feels sold out their own headline show at the Fremantle Arts Centre, where they also premiered many new tracks from their upcoming EP. 2023 is expected to be bigger than ever for Feels in the live space, with upcoming performances already locked in throughout the year.
Apart from their music career, Feels is also the founder of the label, booking agency, and Ableton user group community called Women of Music Production Perth (WOMPP), which gives opportunities to women and non-binary music makers to share, discuss and showcase music production within the broader Australian music community. The collective has now amassed over 700 members across Australia and New Zealand and curates monthly community meetings and showcases to inspire and nurture Australia's diverse electronic music scene and provide a safe place for learning and growth.
Feels comprises two dynamic women who use a four-octave electronic marimba/xylophone, 11 different drum pads, and up to six sticks hitting the triggers at any time to create their music. Since starting as a duo in 2016, Feels has received consistent industry respect and has been personally undertaken studio residencies in Sydney at Ableton Live School and Auckland at Red Bull HQ. Feels has performed at various Australian music festivals such as Listen Out 2017, Falls Festival 2018 and 2019, Laneway Festival, Kickstart Festival, Perth International Arts Festival, Disrupted Festival, and Groovin The Moo. Additionally, Feels has supported Ngaiire, Mansionair, Yeo, Kimbra, G Flip, Unknown Mortal Orchestra, and Orbital.
