Being born into a musical and artistic family, Violet Greens was immersed in a rich tapestry of jazz, soul, classical music, ballet, and fine arts from a young age. Her upbringing laid the foundation for her musical journey, which truly began to take shape in 2009 when she joined forces with her father, a talented jazz pianist, composer, and arranger, to form a jazz duo. Together, they started performing regularly at local clubs, igniting Violet's passion for jazz.
After completing high school, Violet delved deeper into her musical education by studying Jazz Vocals in 2011. Her dedication and love for the genre led her to exciting opportunities. In 2014 and 2015, she participated in the "Miszform Project" and had the privilege of performing at the prestigious International Taichung Jazz Festival in Taiwan. In 2018, Violet collaborated with Scandinavian Jazz Singer Caecile Norby as part of a university project, showcasing her versatility and talent. That same year, Violet ventured further into the jazz scene by participating in the renowned "International Riga Jazz Stage Contest," further establishing herself as a rising star in the jazz community. Continuing her pursuit of musical excellence, Violet completed her master's degree at the University of Music and Theatre in Leipzig in 2021. Currently, Violet is focused on developing two main projects that reflect her artistic vision. The first is a crossover endeavor that blends genres such as jazz, neo-soul, hip-hop and incorporates lyrical and visual metaphors. This project showcases her ability to fuse different musical elements and create a truly unique sound. The second project, titled "Violet Greens Swaggz The Swing," pays homage to traditional jazz, allowing Violet to delve into the roots of the genre and explore its timeless appeal. Recently, Violet released her latest single, titled "Fallin'," which features US rapper Slim Guerilla. Inspired by the heartfelt and genuine singing of jazz icon Billie Holiday, the provocative eloquence of sophisticated rap, and the existentialist philosophy of Camus, Violet crafts a symbiosis between jazz, contemporary pop music, and lyricism, forging a sound that is distinctly her own. Interestingly, "Fallin'" had an unconventional journey. Originally written two years ago and forgotten about, the track resurfaced when Violet stumbled upon an old voice note on her phone. Determined to bring it to life, she reached out to Slim Guerilla, whom she had recently discovered and admired for his artistry. Her request for a collaboration was met with enthusiasm, and the final version of "Fallin'" became a testament to the power of artistic connection. Reflecting on the track, Violet shares that it was born from a web of recurring and paralyzing thoughts, leading to a sense of escapism and isolation. Like many artists, she grappled with self-doubt and ethical considerations, questioning whether it was acceptable to express personal struggles in song when the world around her seemed to be in chaos.
