Nausicaa is an Ethereal Alternative Rock duo from Melbourne that creates Night Music. Their latest single, "Moth to Flame," showcases a dreamy sound world with post-punk influences such as The Cure, as well as the shoegaze guitars and haunting melodies inspired by Cocteau Twins and My Bloody Valentine. The duo consists of Kristen on vocals and other instruments and Dave on guitar, backing vocals, and production. Kristen's clear and pure tone disarms with its hypnotic quality, drawing inspiration from vocalists such as Jeff Buckley, Bjork, Elizabeth Fraser of Cocteau Twins, Michael Jackson, and Thom Yorke. Night is a recurring theme in Kristen's lyrics, while Dave draws inspiration from guitarists like Smashing Pumpkins, Nirvana, and The Smiths. Nausicaa's inspiration comes from the joy of the blues, melancholic and haunting music that explores the dark but lifts you up at the same time, as well as night poetry and symbolism such as stars, the moon, the unknown, the gothic, dreams, rest, and comfort. Their music has been featured on several blogs, radio stations, and platforms, showcasing their broad appeal despite their alternative nature.
