Talent, raw talent is what Mel Blue delivers. "Sunshine," the latest offering from the Sydney-born, London-based duo Mel Blue. Drawing inspiration from 2000s French house, "Sunshine" offers an irresistible blend of Electro Pop and Indie Electronic sounds. The track comes as the first new release since their debut album, "Sanctuary Point," and serves as a tantalizing precursor to a deluxe edition of the album, slated for release on November 17.
The core of Mel Blue is comprised of Oscar Sharah on vocals and Luke Gerber on bass. The duo has been working together for nearly a decade, their unique blend of pop sensibilities and indie-dance edge making for a compelling listen we think. "Sunshine" perfectly encapsulates this synergy, a track they've held close to their hearts for a while. Oscar's falsetto vocal sketch—a soul-stirring utterance of "falling into, into your sunshine"—found its way into the final production, setting the emotional tone for the entire track which we love. Describing the feeling of being in love as "enveloping," Mel Blue captures this essence through the layers of their music, each note and lyric steeped in a complex array of emotions—from melancholy to contentment.
What sets Mel Blue apart though we think is their ability to channel clashing emotions into a cohesive auditory experience. As individual artists, Oscar brings pop sensibility while Luke adds an indie-dance edge. But together though, they create a sound that's as personal as it is universally relatable very unique and quite the story.
