Laura Brizuela - "Introverted Extrovert"

Laura Brizuela didn't pursue music – music pursued her. Born in Lemgo, Bielefeld, to Paraguayan parents, Brizuela's journey in music began at the age of 8 when her teacher selected her to play Mary and sing a solo in a Christmas musical. It was on that stage, in front of 2000 people, that Brizuela experienced an epiphany: "That's what I was born for!" From that moment on, music became an inseparable part of her life. Throughout her adolescence, the pursuit of music followed Brizuela. However, it wasn't until she embarked on a soul-searching journey at a Bible college in California that she made the conscious decision to focus on singing and songwriting in 2019. Two years later, after meeting her producer Mateo Diaz and marrying him, Brizuela released her 'Sanguine EP,' followed by a steady stream of new tracks that garnered recognition from Clout and Speed On The Beat for her soulful R&B-pop hybrid sound. Her talent and dedication led her to sign with Embassy of Music in December 2022. Brizuela's newest single, "Introverted Extrovert," delves into the challenges of finding one's true identity and being comfortable in one's own skin. Building upon the raw emotions of her previous R&B-leaning alt-pop single, "As The Moon (Weightless)," this nu-disco track showcases Brizuela's evolution as an artist. Drawing inspiration from twinkling Goldfrapp-inspired synths and groovy Kylie-esque basslines, her sensual voice and witty songwriting create a contemporary yet classic musical experience. Growing up, Brizuela faced a common dilemma: the conflict between her perceived extroverted nature and her internal introverted tendencies. She confesses, "'Since I was always the life and soul of the party, I let myself be pushed into what they always said to me: you are fully extroverted. But there was always a part in me that wasn't like that at all.'" At 19, Brizuela took a personality test that initially labeled her as predominantly extroverted. At an event organized based on the test results, she found herself surrounded by loud and hyper individuals but felt a sense of not truly belonging. This experience sparked a realization within her. She shares, "'I wrote Introverted Extrovert for everyone who feels the same way because there are many of us and we don't have to categorize ourselves!'" Two years later, Brizuela stumbled upon an article about introverted extroverts, and for the first time, she felt understood. It was as if she was reading a report about herself, and it brought her immense relief. Brizuela discovered that she exists in the intersection of both introversion and extroversion, no longer allowing herself to be confined by other people's labels. When she takes the test now, the results consistently reveal a 50/50 balance. Through "Introverted Extrovert," Laura Brizuela provides a voice for those who navigate the complexities of their personalities. Her music offers solace and validation to individuals who feel torn between introversion and extroversion, emphasizing that they don't have to adhere to predefined categories. Brizuela's personal journey of self-discovery and acceptance resonates with listeners, reminding us all to embrace our true selves. As Laura Brizuela continues to create music that merges genres and touches the hearts of her audience, her artistry exemplifies the power of self-expression. With her soulful voice and insightful songwriting, Brizuela remains committed to exploring the depths of human emotions and experiences, all while inspiring others to embrace their own authentic identities.
