FRED With His Nostalgic Track "Giving It Up"
Introducing a talented artist known as Fred who recently came on our radar and I just truly love his sound. He is the indie-pop solo project led by keyboardist Gabriel Molinaro (of Moon Palace, Tenderfoot, and Timothy Robert Graham). FRED has released 2 singles thus far, "Giving It Up" and "I'm Not Better" via record label Mother West (NYC / Los Angeles). After two years of touring with other projects, keyboardist Gabriel Molinaro began writing and recording songs for their new solo project, FRED. The name references their grandmother, Winifred, described by Molinaro as a “sharp-witted and elegant woman who smoked cigarettes and read Sufi poets.” Following the release of his newest single "Giving It Up," he projects a very captivating track that will surely intrigue your ears. Starting with groovy instrumentation leading onto his sweet and quirky vocals he completes the single fully. Explaining the track further it's FRED's feel-good summer dance track. Inspired by past summers spent listening to artists like Toro Y Moi and Daft Punk, "Giving It Up" struts through old memories of trying hard and still missing the mark. The song culminates in the liberating chorus line "I cannot be what you want", both an admission of personal limitations and a commitment to no longer rely on other people's expectations. To the vocals and production, this track will surely have you dancing. Just perfect for a late-night drive or hanging out with some friends. Go stream "Giving It Up" and check out his discography which is filled with dreamy tracks.
